A group of second-year undergraduate students from the BBA (Hons) in Business Management programme at the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) recently visited the manufacturing facility of Vichy Cookies, one of Sri Lanka’s well-known biscuit brands.

The visit was organised to provide students with hands-on exposure to real-world production and business operations. During the tour, students observed the cookie manufacturing process, from raw material handling to packaging and quality control.
Vichy Cookies extended valuable support to the students by explaining their production workflows, supply chain practices, and quality standards. Company representatives also shared insights into how a local brand has sustained itself in the competitive food industry.
“We are happy to help young learners understand how theory meets practice. Such industry visits are important for bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real business challenges,” said Mr Waruna, the MD of Vichy Cookies
The students found the experience enriching, especially in understanding operational efficiency and product consistency. SLIIT faculty members accompanying the group thanked Vichy Cookies for their warm reception and continued support in shaping future business professionals.
